At MPA we are very proud to say that we are one of the sponsors for the Willen Hospice MK to Amsterdam Cycle Challenge 2018. A three-day, 300km cycle ride which will take the riders (including MPA’s Kieran Crewe) from the start at Willen Hospice in Milton Keynes on Thursday 21st June 2018, working their way to Harwich in Essex and across the channel, finishing up the coast of Holland to arrive in Amsterdam on the Saturday.
MPA would like to thank Willen Hospice for allowing us to sponsor the event. We’re regularly looking for ways that we can give back to our local community, and with many of our employees being residents in the area that the hospice support, it’s a no brainer to help.
We’re really grateful to MPA for sponsoring our cycling challenge and to Kieran for committing to such an epic journey in a bid to raise funds for Willen Hospice. It’s only through the participation and generosity of our supporters that we can continue to make a difference in people’s lives through the services we deliver.Chris Gregg, Willen Hospice Challenger Fundraising
What do they do at Willen Hospice?
Willen Hospice is a specialist palliative care facility for adults in the Bedfordshire, Northamptonshire and Milton Keynes area. They focus on providing specialist symptom control, emotional support, spiritual support and care for carers. They not only support patients within the hospice but also provide regular home visits and help families get through difficult periods.
Whilst a portion of their running costs come from government funding, they rely heavily on generous donations and fundraising from the local community to make up the rest. Each year the hospice needs to raise a minimum of £4,706,000, or £9 a minute, to be able to provide the level of care patients deserve, free of charge.
MPA Employee takes on the challenge
One of the local supporters through the cycle challenge is our very own placement student from Nottingham Trent University, Kieran, who has been working in our marketing team for the past year and loves to take on a challenge.
I’m by no means the most experienced cyclist in the world. But having seen first-hand how hard the staff at Willen Hospice work when my grandmother was a patient there in 2014, it was an opportunity to give something back. I really do think that at the hospice they exemplify what it means to go the extra mile for somebody, so why not cycle a few miles myself to help them out!Kieran Crewe, MPA Marketing Services Support
Kieran is looking to raise as much money as he can for the hospice, and we will certainly all be donating to his JustGiving page here at MPA. If you can find the time to help his fundraising it will be greatly appreciated by himself, MPA, Willen Hospice and the hundreds of patients they care for each year. Your donations will help.
